Barrington Park District Policies & Regulations

General Information and Policies

Residency Requirements "In-District Residents" refer to those who live inside the Barrington Park District boundaries  and who pay taxes to the Barrington Park District. "Out-of-District" refers to those who live outside these boundaries.

Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities

The Barrington Park District is pleased to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability. A.D.A. requires that recreation programs offered be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for each individual. For all programs, participants must be fully toilet trained. If diapers or incontinent aids are used, the participant/parent must be able to provide their own personal care. Those who use the Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) may reach the Park District through the Illinois Relay Center seven days a week at 1-800-526-0844. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Park District at 847-381-0687 regarding special accommodations needed for enjoyment of Park District programs.

You Can Make a Difference

To provide the improved park services and facilities that you have requested and enjoy, additional funding is always needed. You may make a tax-deductible contribution as a memorial, to recognize a birthday or anniversary, or simply as a way of showing your support for the community.Benches, boulders and even trash cans can be "gifted" to the Park District in a loved one’s name. Gifts may also be designated to benefit a specific facility or program.

Gift Certificates

It’s the perfect gift for the person who has everything. Purchase gift certificates at Langendorf Park redeemable for fitness passes, swim passes, golf passes, Park District programs, or any other service the Park District offers.

Volunteers Appreciated!

Volunteering at the Park District is a wonderful opportunity to fulfill volunteer or community service requirements or just to "give back". We do not need a daily commitment from you, but simply some assistance on an "as needed" basis. If interested, please call the Park District at 847-381-0687.

Behavior Policy

No person shall use any abusive,threatening, indecent, profane, or obscene language, or language calculated to occasion a breach of the peace, nor be guilty of any indecent act or behavior in the Park System.

Smoking Policy

There is no smoking allowed inside any park district facilities.

Alcohol Policy

No alcohol is permitted in any Park facility except for the Barrington Room, Jewel Tea Pavilion, and Lodge. Special procedures, application, and fees are required.

Cellular Phone Policy

The Barrington Park District prohibits the use of any device capable of recording, producing, duplicating, reproducing, storing, copying, transmitting or displaying any type District restrooms, locker rooms, or anywhere else where patrons expect privacy.

Photo Policy

On occasion, Park District staff may photograph or videotape participants in Park District programs/classes, or at Park events/facilities. These photos are for Park District use only and may be used in publications, brochures, pamphlets, flyers, or video products. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please inform the photographer.

Lost and Found

A lost-and-found service is maintained at the Langendorf Park District facility. Items not claimed within 30 days will be donated to a charitable organization.

Dogs Prohibited

Dogs, except those required for the physically impaired, are not allowed in any Park District facility or park.

NISRA Membership

The Park District is a member of the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA). Seasonal brochures listing all of NISRA's programs are available at the Park District office. Call 815-459-0737 or go to www.nisra.org for more information.
