The Teams Challenge Course in Ron Beese Park is a series of outdoor events and initiatives designed to promote group effectiveness and cooperation. With the guidance of a trained facilitator, participants are challenged and encouraged to reinforce the importance of working together as a team in a non-threatening atmosphere. Designed as part of an 80-acre Illinois Nature Preserve and park facility adjacent to Baker’s Lake, the Teams Course site provides an ideal setting with wooded and marsh areas, tall trees, and ponds. Participants are welcomed into a unique and relaxed environment where they may work to strengthen aspects of their personal growth and to develop a lasting appreciation of nature. The Teams Course is offered by the Barrington Park District in cooperation with the Illinois Nature Preserve and Citizens for Conservation. This exciting, outdoor, adventure program features 19 stations with a varied number of initiatives, including cables, ropes, platforms, and a 12-foot wall. The Park District’s trained facilitators initially assess the group’s goals and objectives and then design a program to fit those needs. The facilitator works closely with the group, taking the members through a series of events, and incorporating activities that are most beneficial.
