Our Jr. Counselors in Training program is a four-day session for teens to learn how to lead and plan camp activities, implement safety procedures and understand the benefits of working in a team environment. This program is designed to help participants develop self-esteem, confidence and the ability to assume responsibility. Whether your teen is considering a camp counselor position, babysitting, or other “first job” opportunities, this program provides a valuable training experience. Upon completion of the program, students who wish to be considered for a volunteer position with the BPD must go through a formal interview process the week of 5/20. Participants attending the Jr. C.I.T. program MUST attend all 4 days of training to be considered for a volunteer aide position. Participants are NOT guaranteed a volunteer aide position at one of the Park District’s summer camps. If the Jr. C.I.T. attends all 4 classes and completes the interview process successfully, they will be placed at a camp to volunteer for one week of the summer.
