Day Trip: Rails, Pipes and Pubs

Enjoy a day full of adventure as we begin with The Train Lady, as she invites you on a one-of-a-kind experience at Wandering Tree Estates. Stroll the herbaceous border gardens, relax at the Japanese Garden and watch her stunning model train layouts glide through the botanical gardens within this hidden Barrington private treasure. After, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Onion Pub with your choice of soup and entrée. Finish the trip at Sanfilippo Estates, a docent-guided tour through the American Orchestrion Room, with some of the most beautiful art glass-front orchestrions ever made. Then on to the Victorian Bar room with stops in the Music Theater for a mini-concert and finally to the building that houses the Eden Palais Carousel. Thus, ending with some of the most exquisite music machines in the world. Moderate walking involved with this trip. Registration deadline: August 23 (spaces permitting). Transportation provided via Park District van.
Trip Policies & Cancellations
Suggested Ages for Trips
Adult/Active trips are appropriate for anyone ages 18 and over.
Mature Adult trips are most appropriate for ages 55 and up, but all adults are welcome.
Pick-up/Drop-off Times
Pick-up/drop-off location is at the Park District Fitness and Recreation Center – lobby unless otherwise noted. Departure times are set and abided by. If changes occur, participants will be notified by phone. Return times may vary depending on traffic or weather conditions; we make every attempt to return by the designated time.
Refunds
Refunds are only given under the following conditions:
1: The trip is cancelled by the Barrington Park District.
2: The person asking for a refund finds a replacement for the trip.
3: The Park District has a waiting list and is able to sell your ticket.
If we have not met our registration minimum by the deadline date (if one is listed), then the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued. All payments are required in full at time of registration. Please notify the Park District in advance if any special ADA or dietary accommodations are needed for the trip.
