Day Trip: Eat, Drink & Yodel in Southern Wisconsin (Fall)

Join us on an exciting journey to the Swiss region of southern Wisconsin! Our adventure begins at the Alp & Dell Cheese Store in Green County, the heart of Wisconsin’s dairy and cheese industry. Enjoy a cheese tour that includes a fascinating history and a behind-the-scenes look at cheese-making. Afterward, take some time to sample and shop locally made cheeses, sausages, gifts and more. Next, we’ll head to downtown Monroe, where you can browse through local shops or visit the Wednesday Farmer’s Market. Our final destination is Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery near New Glarus for a delightful wine tasting and late lunch. The lunch will feature a “Taste of Switzerland” buffet, including a garden salad and fresh rolls, Jägerschnitzel (pork tenderloin), Schüblig (spiced beef sausage) and Kalberwurst (Swiss sausage with mild veal). Once your appetite is satisfied, we’ll board our bus and return home! Extensive walking is involved with this trip. Registration/cancellation deadline: October 1 (spaces permitting). Transportation via Park District van to McHenry then motorcoach to Wisconsin.
Registration for this program/event begins at 9:00am on 8/19 for residents and 8/22 for non-residents.
Trip Policies & Cancellations, Pick-up/Drop-off Locations and Times
Pick-up/drop-off location is at the Park District Fitness and Recreation Center lobby unless otherwise noted. We depart promptly at the times listed. If changes occur, participants will be notified by phone or e-mail. Return times may vary depending on traffic and/or weather conditions; we make every attempt to return by the designated time.
Refunds
Refunds are only given under the following conditions:
1: The trip is canceled by the Barrington Park District.
2: The person asking for a refund finds a replacement for the trip.
3: The Park District has a waiting list and is able to sell your ticket.
4: If we have not met our registration minimum by the deadline date.
NO CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE REGISTRATION/CANCELLATION DEADLINE FOR EACH TRIP.
All payments are required in full at time of registration. Please notify the Park District in advance if any special ADA or dietary accommodations are needed for the trip.
