Maxson Riverboat & John Deere Home

For ages: 21 and up
Board an authentic paddlewheel riverboat in a relaxing atmosphere for a two hour cruise and lunch. Built as a replica of the famous Rosie O’Shea paddlewheel in 1989, you will enjoy her festive exterior and graciously appointed interior for a memory-making cruise on the Rock River. We will enjoy lunch on the riverboat. Our next stop is the John Deere Historic Site where his story began! Hear the clang of the hammer and feel the heat from the forge. Stand in the spot where John Deere created the first commercially successful steel plow. See live demonstrations and tour the original John Deere home. Enjoy time on your own to explore the many site artifacts and listen as John Deere himself describes how he built a thriving manufacturing business.
Registration deadline: April 15 (spaces permitting).
Transportation provided via Park District van.
Registrations for this program/event begins December 2 at 9:00am for residents and December 9 at 9:00am for non-residents.
Trip Policies & Cancellations
Suggested Ages for Trips
Adult/Active trips are appropriate for anyone ages 18 and over.
Mature Adult trips are most appropriate for ages 55 and up, but all adults are welcome.
Pick-up/Drop-off Times
Pick-up/drop-off location is at the Park District Fitness and Recreation Center – lobby unless otherwise noted. Departure times are set and abided by. If changes occur, participants will be notified by phone. Return times may vary depending on traffic or weather conditions; we make every attempt to return by the designated time.
Refunds
Refunds are only given under the following conditions:
1: The trip is cancelled by the Barrington Park District.
2: The person asking for a refund finds a replacement for the trip.
3: The Park District has a waiting list and is able to sell your ticket.
If we have not met our registration minimum by the deadline date (if one is listed), then the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued. All payments are required in full at time of registration. Please notify the Park District in advance if any special ADA or dietary accommodations are needed for the trip.
