Current Families 1/6/20
New Families 2/3/20 at 7:00am
The Preschool follows the District 220 calendar, Sept. 8 – May 13.
For over 30 years, the Barrington Park District Preschool has been built on the understanding that your children’s happiness and growth are very important. We believe children learn best in an environment rich in experiences that focus on language development, academic centers, social/emotional development, artistic expression and fine/gross motor development.
Each preschool day has a balanced schedule designed to address all developmental domains important to your child’s growth and development. We encourage children to socialize, interact cooperatively and gain independence so they can reach their full potential. We share your desire to provide the best possible start for your child. We follow the Illinois Early Learning Standards and the State of Illinois DCFS guidelines.

Off 2 Preschool (must be 2 by first day of class)
Off 2 Preschool is a great way to introduce your child to a preschool setting. This class is for the toddler who is ready to start exploring on their own. Some of the most important aspects of early development are becoming comfortable with separation, encouraging independence and fostering communication skills. Classes will follow a weekly theme and include circle time with songs, a story, snack time, socialization and playtime. Fine and gross motor skills will be enhanced through games and crafts. Parents/caregivers are asked to be available until children build trust with their new teachers. Children must be potty trained, or a parent/caregiver must be available for bathroom assistance. Class will meet mornings for one hour and fifteen minutes.
Explorer’s Enrichment Series (Ages 3 – 5 years)
Come join us for a workshop that is filled with fun, excitement and lots of enrichment! This mini-series will help your preschooler develop socially and emotionally, grow their fine and
gross motor skills and will address all developmental domains important to your child’s growth and development. Students will have an exciting new theme each Friday filled with an
assortment of academic centers, crafts, S.T.E.M. experiments, movement and music. Some themes will include: cooking, science lab, jungle, oceans, dinosaurs, Legos, volcanoes,
holidays and much more! Must be potty trained. NO DIAPERS OR PULL UPS. (Min/Max: 8/16). Instructors: Tammy Wenzel and Jodi Paz.
Three’s Classroom (must be 3 by September 30, 2020)
The emphasis of this class is to provide children with a wide variety of learning experiences in various domains. Our curriculum includes hands-on experiences that incorporate the interests of the children. Every day is structured to give each child many opportunities to learn with art projects, cooking, science experiments, music, poems, finger plays, as well as physical play. Daily circle time gives children opportunities to sing, share and explore readiness through structured activities. Must be potty trained. NO PULL UPS. Classes start the Tuesday FOLLOWING Labor Day.
Four’s Classroom (must be 4 by Oct. 30, 2020 or by approval)
Your little one is getting smarter by the day! The Park District is keenly aware this year is full of crucial cognitive milestones that are preparing them for kindergarten. They are starting to get the hang of numbers, patterns, time and even starting to read. They are expanding critical thinking skills, such as identifying, classifying, comparing, contrasting, sequencing, predicting and problem solving. Advances in hand-eye coordination help four-year-olds do puzzles and play with toys that have small parts. This program includes readiness in reading (Jolly Phonics Program), literature, writing, science, technology, social science, art and music. It’s a critical development year and we ensure they make observable progress in all areas. Must be potty trained. NO PULL UPS. Classes start the Wednesday FOLLOWING Labor Day.
This class is perfect for children who miss the September 1 age requirement for kindergarten and/or who will be attending kindergarten in the 2020 – 2021 school year and are ready for a four day program. The Pre-K curriculum has been developed to meet the specific skills needed to prepare a child for kindergarten. This program includes readiness in reading (Jolly Phonics Program), literature, writing, math, science, social science, art, music, gross and fine motor skills and social/emotional readiness. One of our main goals is to foster children’s creativity, originality and imagination. The classroom is a playful and creative environment where children can use their literacy, cognitive and mathematical skills throughout their daily activities. Classes start the Tuesday FOLLOWING Labor Day.
