In conjunction with the Barrington Police Department we encourage everyone to be aware of their surroundings in all of our parks. If you see something say something.

The Importance of Situational Awareness

Situational awareness means being aware of your surroundings: people, places, and things. Being in tune with what’s going on around you at all times. In other words, being mindful and more present in your daily activities. Criminals are opportunists who strike when they see that you are distracted.

Stay alert at all times; don’t let your eyes and ears be distracted by electronic devices. If you are wearing earbuds, only wear one so you don’t drown out your environment. Be mindful of surroundings: who, what, and where Walking or running alone is not recommended, but if you do, be confident. Walk with a purpose. Look Alert! Be Alert! Trust your first instinct. If something feels suspicious, get away and report it immediately by calling 9-1-1.
