Location: Depart F&RC – Lobby for Hawthorne Race Course
Built in 1891, Hawthorne Race Course is rich in sports history and the oldest continually run family-owned racetrack in North America. In 2009 the Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system for 65 thoroughbred racetracks in North America. Of the top ten racetracks, Hawthorne was ranked number eight. Enjoy a buffet style dinner with italian sausage, pasta marinara and baked chicken entrees, followed by the excitement and thrills of live harness racing! Trip goers can be a part of the action, place a wager on their favorite horses or sit back and watch the excitement as a spectator. Transportation provided via Park District van.

Trip Policies & Cancellations
Suggested Ages for Trips
Adult/Active trips are appropriate for anyone ages 18 and over.
Mature Adult trips are most appropriate for ages 55 and up, but all adults are welcome.
Pick-up/Drop-off Times
Pick-up/drop-off location is at the Park District Fitness and Recreation Center – lobby unless otherwise noted. Departure times are set and abided by. If changes occur, participants will be notified by phone. Return times may vary depending on traffic or weather conditions; we make every attempt to return by the designated time.
Refunds
Refunds are only given under the following conditions:
1: The trip is cancelled by the Barrington Park District.
2: The person asking for a refund finds a replacement for the trip.
3: The Park District has a waiting list and is able to sell your ticket.
If we have not met our registration minimum by the deadline date (if one is listed), then the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued. All payments are required in full at time of registration. Please notify the Park District in advance if any special ADA or dietary accommodations are needed for the trip.
